Will it be more apprpropriate to call the Mars "The Rusty Planet" instead of calling it "The Red Planet"?
Sorry I mispelled appropriate !(apprpropriate-typing error)

often the earth is referred to as the blue planet, its blue because of all the water, mars is red as you quite rightly suggest because of rust on its surface, however we don't call the earth the watery planet.
the red planet was first used to describe mars before we knew why it was red, it is a description of what we can see rather than what we know.
