I helped replace a 250? straight six with a 302 on a 74 Maverick years ago .The tranny I believe was a c-6 or a c-4? Pilot shaft and torque converter fit up fine . However I had to exchange the bell housing which was only 4 bolts off the tranny ,however removing the torque converter was a pain. It took 2 guys around 10 hours . Make certain that the pilot shaft is correct to what you need first .

bypass V-8 w/ automated trans in simple terms. right this is why at the same time as the v-6 will stay at the same time it has a historic past of e.g.r. failure [the ports and passages interior the intake manifold clog up] and at the same time as the v-6 will circulate the truck around o.ok. THE V-6, isn't the ENGINE TO TOW WITH.era. so a approaches as transmissions bypass study have shown that horses arrive in better shape while the tow motor vehicle has an automated transmission [this is to not say that a properly schooled instruction manual transmission operator can not gain the comparable consequences; in simple terms that with a minimum of two distinctive operators using the comparable truck, pulling the comparable trailer the shipment will arrive in better shape with an automated]

i think the transmission will bolt up, but thats about it. the computer system is not gonna match, motor mounts. just all kinds of little gadgets will make this a hard switch. Just stick with the 300 / 6 or if you have to get a v8, just find one. a truck this old isn't worth a lot of time and money trying to make the change. good luck!

Yep , like edselman said ,the bellhousings are the same. You will probably need the motor mount supports ( the bent frame that bolts to the frame and holds the mount) These frames are different shapes for different motors . Everything else is the simple stuff once you have the motor sitting in the frame.
