Ahnold can't run since he wasn't born here (the rules say only US-born citizens can run for president) but if he could, would you vote for this liberal republican?
And would you be in favor of amending the rules to let non-US born citizens to run for president?

I really doubt it. I couldnt say for certain until i heard him speak on major issues, but i really doubt it.

i can't say whether or not people should vote for schwarzenegger, but have some thoughts on whether non-americans should be allowed to run.
i think it depends how long a foreigner has been a US citizen, and what impact or commitment they've had to or on US culture.
remember, there's almost no such thing as an "american", it's a nation of immigrants and foreigners ... by rights the only people who have any real claim to run the country are the indiginous peoples, the native americans, what we used to call "indians" ... everyone else is an invader, an incomer, a settler - having virtually stolen the land from it's original people.
what makes a long term naturalised "american" any different to a 1st generation "american", or a 10th generation "american"?
if someone was born in the UK, and moved to america as a child, then ran for president aged 40 then they'd be more american than anything else and shouldn't be excluded on those grounds.
it depends what nationality a person considers themself, where they've made their home, and where their allegiances lie. the question is, if a conflict arose with their home nation how would they react? i think "americans" would probably find it easier to trust someone born and bred on US soil.

I would certainly consider him. I'm a Democrat social liberal and fiscal conservative. I won't say I definitely would vote for him, until I could study his record in California.
However, if you look at history, you have to admire the framework that the Founding fathers set up for the government. So I would have to say no, the rules should remain as they are.

Thank God he can't run, and heck no I wouldn't be for amending the Constitution to allow foreigners to run.
