Core Duo is Intel's first dual core processor. The Core 2 Duo is the 2nd generation of this chip. I'm a Mac guy...can't help you much with the Centrino. I know they were designed to consume less power to run cooler and not deplete laptop batteries as fast, but I can't help ypu with the different models.

An Intel Core Duo is a 32-bit dual-core processor, and an Intel Core 2 Duo is a 64-bit dual-core processor. I'm not sure on what ViiV is, but Centrino is a mobile technology used in laptops.

Cor duo is older and slower and it gets hotter. The core duo 2 is faster and runes cooler.Id say go with intel core quad extreme but it is almost $1000.So u mswell go with the core duo 2.If u cant affordthat u can get the corde duo.
