Difference of Intel D vs Intel dual core vs Intel. core 2 Duo?

Can anybody explain how to distinguish Intel D, Intel Dual core and Core 2 Duo processor from there features?

Update:

I know that all 3 processors have one physical processor and 2 cores inside it.

The Pentium D was/is the first generation of dual core CPUs released by Intel, is based on the original Pentium 4 architecture, runs at a very high clock speed, but is less efficient at processing instructions than the newer architectures. The Pentium Dual Core is a revised version of the Pentium architecture that is runs at lower voltages, but forms the low end of Intel's second generation dual core CPUs. The Core 2 Duo is the midrange of ntel's second generation dual core CPUs, only being exceeded in performance by the Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Extreme.

Alright, here are the basic facts.

The Pentium D processors are the first desktop dual core processors from Intel, which are based on the Pentium 4 core. Although they have decent performance, their temperatures are quite high compared to competing AMD products, forcing Intel to abandon this processor.

The Core 2 Duo processors are currently Intel's flagship processor, they are clocked slower than Pentium D's but has more efficient at doing things and ends up a lot faster than Pentium D's even though they're running at less speed.

The Intel Pentium Dual Core processors are actually Core 2 Duos that are running at even lower speeds compared to the slowest Core 2 Duo processors, it seems to be aimed at people who are looking at dual core processors on a short budget.

I guess they basically slapped the Pentium name for it to increase sales. Because it's bearing the Pentium name. As well as competition to the slowest Athlon64 X2 processors.

Performance wise (On default stock speeds) , these are from slowest to fastest.

Intel Pentium Dual Core, Intel Pentium D, Core 2 Duo.

Value wise though, I'd suggest the Pentium Dual Core over the Pentium D's though. It's because they run cooler, consumes less power and is a whole lot more overclockable compared to the Pentium D's.

Pentium dual core's are not as nice as Pentium D's. They are not as powerful and are older technology. However if you want dual core computing and you want to use intel, use the core 2 duo series because the Pentium Dual cores and pentium d's are dying off and will be obsolete within a year.

Look at the L2 cashe and FSB... but overall.... The core 2 Duo is gonna be the best way to go.

your'e intel core duo,....... is very fast at about 1.2 gh to about 2.0 ghz.

your'e intel core 2 dou,..... posesses approx the same ghz, but is basically an intel core duo multpied by 2 making it super, super fast.
