Has anyone ever been to a neurologist for headaches?
What happened? Did they find anything out or help you?
I have had BAD headaches and migranes since I was 8 years old. I've tried several different medications and therapy and nothing helps!

I have been to a neurologist for headaches and nothing really came of it.
I feel for you, because I too suffer from EXTREMELY BAD HEADACHES and MIGRAINES on a day to day basis, and like you, nothing helps.
I have found that the best thing to do is go to a darkened room, put a cold cloth on my head, block all noise, and relax.....that tends to at least ease the pain a bit.
GOOD LUCK to you with your headaches ;-)

A good neurologist will be able to treat you easily. Look for a headache specialist in your area.
In the mean time, avoid common migraine triggers: chocolate, caffeine, preserved meats, aged cheeses, wine, beer, cigarette smoke, & strong smells.
There are sever tiers of therapy:
1. Occasional migraines (<1 per week)- Treat with Axert (or a drug from the same class) at the onset of your headache. The sooner you take it the better chance you'll have of relieving it.
2. Frequent migraines (>1 per week)- Treat with an old fashioned beta-blocker (not any of the new, targeted ones). These drugs are made for blood pressure control, and the new ones target only the heart. Older ones (specifically propranolol) act on the brain as well as the rest of the body and are great for reducing migraine occurrence.
Before your first visit with a neurologist, make a headache journal. Get a cheap calendar from the store and write down the times you've had your headaches, and any triggers that you remember eating earlier. This wil provide you with a good history of when your headaches start. This is important because many women have menstrual migraines prior to their cycle.

A neurologist is the best person to go to if you are having
continuois headache or you still have them after taking pain
killers, The neurologist can do especially two important tests
to know exactly what may be wrong. They are a CT Scan or furthermore an MRI. You don't have to worry about the tests. I did them both and they are painless. You would only need to keep steady and quiet. He can know by the CT Scan only.
The MRI is only for further detailed examination.
So I encourage you to visit the neorologist. Headaches could be coming from some other part of our body and the headache is a referred pain. So do it and you will feel secure.

I have. I was having terrible headaches and saw an ENT first, who ran an MRI since there are a history of brain tumors in my family. They found a Chiari Malformation, which causes pressure headaches, similar to migraines. The ENT sent me to the neurologist, who said that Chiari doesn't "have any symptoms" and diagnosed me with migraines. I was on medication for them and it did not help at all. This happened three years ago, and I have just learned to deal with the headaches.
I would suggest trying a neurologist if you can get one with a good recommendation from someone, and then getting a second opinion if you're not happy with the results.
