I think it is rude ??

I think its rude to not offer salt and pepper at the table when we eat at our inlaws do you? Everybodies tastes are different and I don't consider it an insault to reseason something.

It may be rude, however, it is rude to point out the rudeness of others.

Simple solution, next time bring a few salt and pepper packets with you, maybe this will send a message to your in-laws.

I don't think that it's rude not to offer salt and pepper. Probably they don't use it themselves so they don't think about it and they don't realize that you want it. It would be alot simpler if you would just ask for it. How else would they know that you want it if you don't say a thing?

Don't sweat it. Just carry your own S&P with you. Salt and pepper live on my table, perhaps your inlaws don't put it on their table because of their health problems.

I think that if you ASK specifally for it, they should let you use it, but there is NO rules for leaving it out on the table. I NEVER leave S & P out on the table, ever. We do not use it, but we keep it around for those who want to.
