If it's only a slight problem, use some over-the-counter cream or specialized face wash. There are tons of options. Accutane is only for very, very severe acne as it has very severe side effects and is a last-option sort of treatment. If you really want to see a dermatologist for something they will likely give you Benzi-Clin (sp?). This is a topical cream that is prescription-strength.
I am a first hand accutane user, and I would suggest something from the cycline family first. Try using some mild to medium skin cleansers with benzol peroxide in them as well. If this doesn't work, you can go the accutane route, however it is very expensive and has extremely rare, but life-changing side effects. Your skin could keritanize (yellow and harden), however on the plus side, since you don't have very problematic skin, you would be surely healed completely with 3-4 months of usage. I would reccomend if you use accutane to initialze with a small dose and if you don't see 100% difference, then increase the dose for a lil bit. Also, DO NOT expose yourself to much sunlight or facial scrubbing. The medicine closes you subacious glands and doesnt allow you to sweat properly. This can have adverse reaction on brain tissue, so be very careful when taking this medication! Good Luck and I wish you no more acne!!!! -The Student
