KOOL-AID PICKLES as seen in N.Y. Times. Has anyone done this & gotten outsides of pickles all red without cuts

No matter how much kool-aid you use the red dye in it will not turn the green pickle red without cutting them open. Any ideas how they did it or are the pictures fake.

i think u should let the pickles sit in the kool aid longer 2 get a better view n then u can tell wether its fake or not!!

What you are doing is simply bathing your pickle in a toxic bath of red food dye and sugar, or worse yet, artificial sweetner, along with artificial flavor. so what's the big deal (Or should I say dill?)? Sounds pretty gross to me.
