Because a lot of experimention is going and that molds you into an adult or at least it supposed to. You make mistakes and learn from the or do things that you really can't do when you are settled down as an adult.

Every stage of life is equally important, as at every stage you can to learn the lesson befitting to that stage of your life.
That way old age is the most important stage of life, as then you get to test yourself, how much you have learn through your life, as in old age you can no longer distract yourself with the physical reality and take comfort in that fact that you still have enough time to confront your fears and delusions, so that you can find peace within.

Your youth will be looked back on as a time when all things were possible for you, your health was good and you were free. Most people lose these things as they grow old and although each age of life has its own rewards and problems, youth is often seen in retrospect as the best years of a person's life. Unfortunately during one's youth one usually has the feeling that they will be young forever and, thus youth is often not appreciated fot the glorious time it is.

Think about it: its when you learn alot about life. You learn how to deal with friends and relationships, you learn many basic skills in school, you set patterns of habits for your lifestyle, you understand much of the world around you. Youth is a time of learning when responsibilty becomes important and your personality and attitude are pretty much set. You transition from childhood curiosity to self awareness and capability of adulthood

youth is the time when we should learn values, language, cultural norms and traditions. We learn how to interact with people, we learn right from wrong, we learn how to live in society without being considered a pariah. We also learn the consequences of acting outside social mores. We learn that life is not fair, we don't always get what we want. we learn about controlling our desires and passions...
it is much easier to learn these things as children than as adults.
