Question to those who get mad when Mexicans wave their flag.?
Do you get mad when people celebrate on March 17th? Have you written your congressmen to have the names "little Italy" and "Chinatown" removed from Common use?
Just wondering.

who cares if they wave their flag, if you don't like it, don't look. in a democracy people have the right to do this.

The above writer (David P.) could stand to read a little more history. Most immigrant groups have been marginalized by dominant groups. When Irish Catholics first immigrated to the USA, they went to public schools in which only Protestants were comfortable. Their was quite a bit of protest at the time and many Catholics formed their own schools because they didn't want to send their children to schools which spoke ill of Catholics. Many Chinese first came here as cheap labor for the railroads and lived in poor conditions. What may be different now is that there are many more illegal immigrants because previous groups have had to cross oceans to reach America. Mexico's economy is not doing so well because the oil fields are collapsing and oil revenues are declining. Without work and increased food prices, many people come here hoping for a better life.

It's all about respect. If any illegal aliens wants to be accepted to this country, the least they can do is showing some respect to this country, and its citizens first. Think small for a moment, if a neighbor wants to be invited to your home...say to a weekend cookout you plan to have, they would never show any hostility, nor rudeness right? So how do the illegals expect the citizens of U.S. to accept them when they 1) break the federal immigration law, and 2) tauting at our faces.
Just look back at the Miss Universe Pageant a couple of weeks ago. The Mexican audiences were booing Miss. U.S.A...and they still want all the freebies?
Yes, many do work extremely hard, but the illegals do have a drain on our economy. They go to our FREE public schools, and receive free medicals for emergency issues, also, many employers and workers work in the underground economy and don't even pay income taxes. Or, for the ones who do pay, their paid in tax dollars is significantly lower then the benefits that they receive.
***One important fact regarding the Immigration Bill, our gov. tells us that the illegals can get a z visa by passing a 24 hr. background check, and pay a $5000 fine. This is for The Road To Citizenship as they called. Bull! If one chooses not to get the U.S. citizenship, and receive a greencard instead, the $5000 is not applicable. Do you know of anyone gotten a background check? IT TAKES FBI MORE THAN 4-6 MONTHS!!!! 24 hours? Give me a break. Do you trust Washington 24 hrs. to process 12 million people's paper?
It takes more than 6 months to renew your passport!!!
Too bad our gov't is lying to us also. We can build a wall to the Moon before a wall can be built at our border.

Unlike some of your answerers this is more than about Mexicans (some racism showing there buddy). The people who fly Irish flags (I don't see that many) don't try to say that parts of this country belong to Ireland or will be part of Ireland in the future. I would be mad if a group of Frenchmen came to this country in the millions and then protested their treatment while flying their flag. Particularly if those Frenchmen claimed that they were US citizens or at least should be treated just like US citizens.
There is plenty of room in this country for people from Mexico, Paraguay, Honduras, and Guatamala (I saw those flags flying too) if they wait their turn and follow the rules.
Let me point out an article in the Friday Wall Street Journal. The WSJ supports amnesty in this new bill. A man named Garcia met and married a woman named Ortega in Honduras several years ago. He left her and went to New York illegally. There he became a crack dealer and had a girlfriend named Pena. Every once in awhile Garcia returned to his wife and impregnated her. After baby number two she divorced him but continued to see him on his trips. So two more babies with her and a couple with his girlfriend he was arrested for the murder of a subordinate in his drug business. His ex-wife defended him by saying that he had been caught sneaking into the country with an altered Dominican pass port and was deported so he coundn't have killed anyone in NYC. His ex-wife immigrated to the US legally, found a job, got a master's degree, and finally found a judge to review his case. He got released then deported to Mexico. The WSJ thought it was very sad that his sons would grow up without him. I don' t shed one tear for this piece of crap. He was a criminal plain and simple. His wife is the kind of person that we want to be an American citizen. She should have listened to her mother when she called her son-in-law low class.

little Italy and Chinatown, and little Mexican or whatever you want to call a predominantly Hispanic area like Chinatown or little Italy. those Establishments are cultural places to go for everyone to enjoy.
waving some other countries flag above the U.S flag (if you are living in the U.S) is just disrespectful and rude. it is not cultural.
