Did Reyes and the Mets let the Phillies get inside their heads?
Reyes sure seemed to be pressing. Every time he made a bad play or had a bad game, he seemed to get into a worse funk. He doesn't seem to play like that except against the Phillies. The Mets gave up something like 11 walks and five errors today, and lost their seventh straight to the Phillies - but (and I hate to admit this) they sure look (on paper) like the better team.
Any ideas? As a long suffering Phillies (and Eagles and Sixers) fan, I figure the Phighin' Phils will as usual fall just short, but if they make the playoffs and play the Mets, it will be interesting. Will the Mets and Reyes bounce back if it happens?

Oh yes!!!
But they'll recover in time. The Phillies did a similar thing in 1986, and the Mets were World Champions. Look at this as an omen.
If the Phillies make the playoffs it will go either way, they will play horrible because they don't have experience(besides Rowand and Moyer) or they will annihilate everything in their path because they tend to play much better against good teams. On paper the Mets are a better team, but in all reality the Phillies are probably the best team in the national league. They just perform bad against bad teams for some reason. They went 11 for 6 against the Mets this season and 9 for 9 against the Marlins. That's pretty sad. The Mets are doing so good because they beat these bad teams. Phillies just need a bullpen. I'm not even upset with the starters, they're all doing okay, besides that bum Eaton. Next season they should let Rowand go and try to get a couple of bullpen pitchers. They have 3 mvp caliber players in Howard(who already won), Chase Utley, and Jimmy Rollins both of which are contenders this year for the MVP slot. Personally I think Rollins should win the MVP. Utley should have if he didn't get hurt. The reason the Phillies lead the league in runs scored is because of Rollins. He's unstoppable this year. They don't need Rowand, put Victorino or Bourne in center. You also have Jason Werth and Pat Burrel(who is finally learning how to hit up to his potential.) Another thing they should work on is a good 3rd baseman. Can Utley or Iguchi play 3rd base? Utley sure hits like a 3rd baseman.
Yes i think they have gotten inot the mets head...i really thought the mets were going to take at least 2 out of 3 but obviously that didnt happen. IDK there's just something about the philies they just cannot over come. I dont think the mets tried hard enough bottom line. If the philies make it they can only play them in the NLCS...and with the philies pitching problems thats not gonna happen. Even if the philies did make it the mets obvousily would step it up b/c its the postseason and probably beat emm plus the experience factor. As far as reyes...he will be alright hes just going through a rough streak right now GUY ON TOP OF ME...how can you say the mets only beat bad team's...you have no idea what your say'in...just stick to the philies...the met's killed the dodgers, cubs, brewers, cardinal's,D'backs and the braves. Now what team did i leave out...yup the philies. They are not better then the met's so dont even give me that bull. The met's are still the best team in the N.L face it. We just have a hard time playing the philies bottom line.
