I am an absinthe obsessive and used to make it. "Absinthe" is widely available, but thujone - the hallucinogenic component, derived from wormwood - is removed from brands sold in almost all countries. The only mass-produced brands that are not de-thujonized are sold in Amsterdam and the Czech Republic and these have minor amounts of thujone in them. If you just want it for the novelty, etc., go for it. If you want the hallucinogenic effect, you'll have to do some more research and either make your own or find a different source (hint: essential oils from plants other than wormwood).

dont buy absinthe! trust me! your in a strange country, and you dont know anyone. Drinking absinthe is just a bad thing waiting to happen.
