Thumbs Down Over-use?
Is it me, or does there seem to be a gremlin running around giving thumbs down to a lot of answers? I can see TDing the anti's answers, blatently wrong answers, spam, dumb answers (ie. Desert Eagle for CCW), and the like.
But it seems pretty normal to click a question and find every answer with at least a thumbs-down - and I mean good, accurate answers too. Is it out of spite, or what?
I'm all for making thumbs-down raters public. If you "star" a question, your name appears, I think the same should be done for TD's, if even for only the answerer to view. If you have the guts to rate it, you should have the guts to put your name to it.
I know I've never been messaged with the disagreement over an answer that got a TD. This IS supposed to be answers, so if I'm wrong I want to learn something new.
It doesn't bother me personally, but the blatent abuse is annoying. There's no reason to TD everyone's answer in a question.
Wondering if anyone else agrees?
Be Safe.
Ran out of space...
I put this in hunting because I really have no use for the other sections, and I'm specifically referring to this section which I frequent. The "regulars" here seem to be a really good group of people.
The point I was making is, all the thumbs down on answers can confuse the asker if they're looking for a good answer. They may think "gee look at all the TD's" and wonder which is accurate - so it could play into which info someone chooses to accept.
Making raters public would allow someone to see if there are invdividual thumbs down, or if someone TD'd everyone's answer (ie. expose the troll). Would also allow individual TD's to compare the answers of the people that rated.
THANK YOU ALL for your answers.
As this nears expiration, I will let it go up to vote for Best Answer. I'm not good at picking favorites! Lots of good answers. Thumbs ^UP^ for all of you from me..
Thanks again!
