My tank was fine this morning, went to work n when i got home the tank was cloudy could hardly see through it, ive emptied half the water its cleared a bit but not clearing any more. i have recently put some treatment in for fin rot could it be a reaction?

yea Ive just done the some thing and it will get like that i would just wade it out...thats what im doing. good luck

Hi Nikki, Your problem is almost certainly poor water conditions. If you check your parameters you will probably find your ammonia & nitrite are above zero. This is easily fixed with a 50% partial water change every 2 days using same temperature, treated water until your tank is perfect. The fin rot treatment will have killed your bio filter dead so you tank is going thought the cycle again-the cloudiness is an algae bloom. It will disappear in a few days. You nee to be keeping a close eye on your water right now. The link below will help yu with any concerns you have regarding regular maintenance once your water conditions are perfect.

Most likely if not definitely you are over feeding.
Infusoria is an airbourne bacteria that feasts and breeds in water with uneaten food.
When it's in full cycle your water will appear milky.
Your already treating your water so you shouldn't add any more chemicals. The main problem will be lack of oxygen to your fish and they will at the surface gulping air.
Increase your air supply to maximum; this aids the fish and accelerates the infusoria breeding cycle. They will breed till they starve themselves.
You have done one 50% change which was right. Keep doing daily 10%, (gravel vacuum, that's where the problem is), till it clears and starve your fish for a day or two.

what this means is that the levels of ammonia have reached fatal levels and bacteria has started to collect on it hence it turning cloudy over the next two days do a daily 40% water change and preferably treat with amquel plus (£4.99)which neutralises all the ammonia nitrate and nitrite good luck it worked for me

need to know if it is a salt water tank or not .cloudyness usually means no enough or a filter went bad . medicine should effect water that much but if have a protien skimmer shut it off for a while . other than that when was the last time you did a water change ??. hope this helps
