Do you all agree with me that selfishness is the main source of our problems as humans?
It may lead to:
desire to dominate others
racial discrimination
arrogance
unjustifiable war
genocide.....

May I submit that it is the love of power and control that is a main source of human problems.

Selflessness is a value, and being Selfish will only lead to many problems in the long road of life. But, I do not totally agree to the statement above.
There are other sources of problems, as humans, we are naturally imperfect. Because of this flaw, humans allow sinful thoughts to form in their minds.
They will think of many things, like why life is so unfair to them, why do others have better status, be it financially or socially. They will then become jealous and therefore initiate what is known as the "start of chaos". Contemplation of "what should be done to fix the situation" will then be action plans.
Selfishness cannot take the blame for problems arising from humans entirely, it is only a portion of all the trouble caused. If we actually sit down and take the time to review the cases where other factors were involved during our lifetime, we would find that greed and jealousy are also one of the natural sins that reside in a human.
Therefore, I conclude that there are other sources of our problems as humans, but this does not mean that I disagree with the fact that selfishness also contributes to a certain percentage of these problems.

While you have a good point, the selfishness that leads to those other issues is based on misperceptions about life. So, I would say that the main source of our problems as humans are misconceptions, specifically that:
1) Human beings are separate from each other.
2) There is not enough of what human beings need to be happy.
3) To get the stuff of which there is not enough, human beings must compete with each other.
4) Some human beings are better than other human beings.
5) It is appropriate for human beings to resolve severe differences created by all the other fallacies by killing each other.

I would say selfishness is one that led to your mentioned human problems. Selfishness drives humans to dominate their group, institution or more so a society. This contribute to the arrogance of people from others just to pursue their motives of self-desire. Indeed greed is also a great contributory factor to the main source. They want luxuries in life because of the egoistic feeling of a person. No doubt you are correct and such statement is very true.
Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Exactly,
Selfishness is the main point. In every relation even in husband wife, both wants others to sacrifice or bend a little. they dont think that we love this person so let it go, NO, they both want each other to sacrifice or to compromise. they both becomes selfish.
if this much close relationship is selfish then what do u expect from whole wolrd, from all human.
There are very few people who are less selfish ( not completely selfless); like at one point they are so selfless and very devoted but at certian point they are selfish.
thats the world i guess
