I had my car battery replaced and when I attempted to turn on the radio, it had no power...possible causes?

Also, perhaps most importantly, when my battery died, my roommate gave me a jump and *accidentally crossed the terminals on the battery...is this the cause? and if so, what is the solution?

Model: S4

It could also be an anti theft deterrent. When most newer cars lose power you need a radio code to restart the radio. Check your manual or your dealer and see if that is it.

sometimes in an aftermarket radio the ground is connected to the battery instead of the frame of the car. find your radio ground and if it is not connected to the frame of the car (or anything) then it was possibly connected to the original battery and was not reconnected to the new battery. i am unsure of crossing the terminals on the battery. it may have "shocked" the radio resulting in electrical overload and killing the radio. good luck!!

Check the fuse and also the radio might be coded my Volvo has a radio code every time I disconnect the battery or the radio it wont come on untill I put it the code.

what's the temperature like in your area? when the starter motor cranks, is it doing it slowly or at regular speed? if it's cold in your area and the starter is cranking slower than usual, it means that your battery doesn't have enough cold cranking amps. it takes a bit more juice to get a car started in cold weather, and having accessories like a remote starter doesn't help this issue at all. see if you can return your battery and get one that has a bit more CCA, don't buy the cheapest one. if this isn't the case, then there's a chance that your starter motor has gone bad. either way, it's not that expensive of a fix, it should cost you about $150.

possibly blown the inline fuse, fairly easy to change once youve removed the radio. also may need to have the code put in if its a audi fitted unit
