We are going to DisneyWorld but are not quite sure how to arrange our days there....I guess my question is can we do Animal Kingdom in 1 day......and can we do Hollywood Studios in 1 day??? We will have a 7 & 5 year old that will be tagging along so keep that in mind.

both are doable in one day Hollywood Studios would take less.
I'm 19 and went on my first Disney trip two months ago. I absolutely loved Hollywood Studios but was less than thrilled with Animal Kingdom. If you can, I would start the day at AK, ride Everest, go on the safari ride, maybe visit a few attractions, and then hop over to Hollywood Studios. There were many more attractions at HS than at AK. Neither of them take a full day to check out, so I would definitely suggest park hopping, if you are able to. If not, skip Animal Kingdom.
I generally plan for one day at each of these parks when we go at a relatively slow time in February. This is in part because we prefer Epcot and the Magic Kingdom over these parks for various reasons, so we budget more time for those. My 3 year old could spend half a day just in the Winnie the Pooh playground in the Magic Kingdom.
Keep in mind that the Animal Kingdom is the newest park, so it is smaller and has less attractions then the other three.
Still, both parks you mention are "must see"s!
Here are a few things that factor into the decision:
- The time of year you are going will make a big difference in how much you can see at each park in one day, because of crowds. March/spring break, for example, is a very busy time.
- Interests of family members: a movie buff might feel like one day is not enough at Hollywood Studios, and a 7 year old who loves animals might feel like they could spend several days at Animal Kingdom.
- Endurance: can you arrive at the parks upon opening? Can you keep touring all day with kids? A good strategy if you are staying nearby is to arrive first thing, take a break at the busiest time of day (around lunch) and come back later when it is less crowded and cooler.
Some good news is that there is detailed expert advice on this topic, a "Step-by-Step Guide to Planning a Disney World Vacation", at: http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwstartplan.html
You will also find there many tips on getting discounts on anytyhing from tickets hotel to rental cars to food.
I always find the planning to be very fun; it also builds up anticipation when the kids get in on the planning discussions! Have fun.
I agree that both are doable in one day - but I think Animal Kingdom will take less time. If you are not planning on riding Everest, you can be out of there soon after lunchtime, or right after the parade if you want to see that.
My little kids liked MGM better than the Animal Kingdom and we always wind up going there for at least a day and a half.
Good luck - check out the planning spreadsheet to help you organize your trip.
You can do both in one day. Some say that Animal Kingdom is more about conservation rather than the rides. I suggest you do Animal Kingdom in the morning (4hrs) and then Hollywood (it gets very hot there /not much shade) . Then go to hotel and rest if needed. Then do Hollywood studios - find parade times on disneyworld.com.
