Why does Hidan say deidara-CHAN? Don't you put 'chan' at the end of a girls name?

I know, it's funny, but why do they put chan? Don't you put -chan at the of a GIRLS name? Deidara's a guy...tho he looks freakishly allot like a girl. THey put this at the end of names like -san or -chan etc. I've heard them say Sakura-Chan before so...I DON'T GET IT

of anyones name. most frequently
used at the end of a young boy
or young girls name. it doesnt really
go by sex. but, in this case hidan
could be doing it like that to show
that he speaks down to deidara.
