Drinking While Off-Duty?

If you are off-duty and you are called into duty or to a recall formation while intoxicated, what is the proper response. Please provide a reference if possible.

( I am referring to the US Army)

I am not referring to an on-call status.

If it was an unannounced recall, you got no problem. But if you were on alert status then you are f'ed. Was stationed at Osan AB in Korea and got recalled a few times while I was a wee bit tipsy, nothing came of it. They just want to make sure we can be contacted and show up at all times.

If you are drunk will off duty, that is OK, but if you were on alert status, subject to recall at anytime, then you are in a lot of trouble.

as long as you weren't otherwise under notice to be ready or in a duty status, you should be okay if you say.."look, I am drinking and cannot drive at the moment. Send a driver if you REALLY need me there."

If you are in an on-call status, you shouldn't be drinking in the first place. if it was an emergency recall there's nothing you or anybody could have done so just the the sarge and sober up.

Just talk to your C.O or X.O and explain to them you are intoxicated and cannot perform your duties at the moment.

They'll understand... Or, I hope so.
