Is the electoral college out dated?

Shouldn't the popular vote matter more then the electoral college? This is a very outdated system. Your thoughts?

Don't assume this is about Obama actually it is stemming from the 2000 election win Geoge W Bush lost the popular vote. And won the electoral college. He stole the election that year. Especially with the crap with Ohio Texas and Florida.

Totally out dated and unconstitutional. It basically say we the people can vote for who we want and it will be taken under advisement but the powers that be wil decide in the end. It is a B.S. system that disenfranchises the voters. It should be done away with. It is ironic that the electoral college, the very thing that Hillary tried to do away with in 2000 is the only way she can win now and now supports. The electoral college, crushes the voice of the people. The popular vote is the only vote that should count.

I believe you are dead wrong. The founding fathers reasoned that if you went strictly by the popular vote, the big cities would elect the President and the country people would have no say in anything.

If you went buy popular vote, the politicians would spend all of their time in New York, California, Florida, Michigan, and Ohio. They would not waste a dime going to other states or smaller cities.

I for one don't believe the people of New York or Los Angeles are any better equipped to pick a president than I am.

Eliminating the Electorial Col ledge would be a great boon to the two political parties, but the voters would get screwed. Don't believe everything you see on TV. They think us folks out here in fly-over land are dunces and should not be allowed to vote.

The Electoral College insures that a candidate has broad appeal and protects the interests of the small, less populated states. Without it, all attention (and with it, money and political promises) would focus on 20-30 large cities and entire states would be disregarded.

Furthermore, we are not a democracy. A democracy is three wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat for dinner. We are a representative republic where we vote representatives to lead us on our behalf. The EC helps make sure they represent all of us.

I guess it depends on what state you live in. If you live in New York, California, Texas or one of the other states with large populations you might think so. If, on the other hand, you live in Wyoming or Vermont you might not. The same rationale applies to the US Senate. It is no more outdated than the Electoral College because it was set up as it is for the same reason - to keep the interests of the states with large populations from being able to have their way at the expense of states will smaller populations. In short, this is the UNITED StateS of America, not the State of America.

Actually, popular vote is the old system, the electoral college is the modern voting system. Used by several other nations.
