Could be that the ring wasnt sterile when u changed it. U have to be really careful of the jewellery u use as anything can cause irritation, the different gauge or type of jewellery. You might want to go back and start ur orginal aftercare procedure again, until the inflammation passes. If it doesnt go away, u might want to put ur other ring back in. It could be that it is a cheap type of metal. You know how some people have sensitive ears to different kinds of jewellery? could be the same thing for u. If ur nose was done professionally with a needle, try going to a tattoo shop and picking up a packaged ring that has already been sterilised to put in, at least then u know its meant for the piercing site and wont cause any further irritation. Alternatively, those kinds of places or any professional piercing place will have a wide variety of jewellery for u to choose from, that u can sterilise urself. They will also be happy to offer some advice about what u can do. All the best tho, i can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be for u :S Take care

Don't do anything drastic. If it's a problem then go speak to a local piercer who'll know what's happening and advise you for the best solution, a doctor's job isn't to pierce, a piercers job is. They know what they're doing and if you ever have any problems after any piercer should be happy to help you. :P nose piercings aren't actually that likely to reject, so don't panic, just see what they say to you and hope it'll get sorted out. In the meantime, as someone advised, keep it clean with sea salt soaks and leave it be otherwise.

Yes it is normal.
It sounds like your nose is just a little irritated.
Start cleaning your nose for abot a week until the redness and swelling goes down and you'll be fine.
It if continues being swollen and red for over a week then you should put the stud back in.

It'll eventually go down. Don't do anything to do it. The reason it did this is because it's used to having a straight stud in the hole , but now it has a curved ring :)

it's okay, but don't mess with it. don't put antibiotic on it. use plain old peroxide. trust me - it works! keep soap off it too if you can. and it should heal well because the ring actually allows air to circulate better than a stud thereby allowing oxygen to the area.
