I am trying to save money by taking my puppy back to my breeder for a 7 in 1 shot my puppy is 9 weeks old. Is the 7 in 1 shot the one he needs? Also does he need to be wormed or is he still too young? My breeder said it would cost me 15.00 compared to the 120.00 they want at the vet. On a side note I am crate training him and he pee's in his crate every night. I thought dogs wouldn't do that...Please help it's my first dog

Loves dogs..I just got off the phone with the vet..Bill would be 117.25 I live in Atlanta..You must live in some backwoods area because that is the 2nd vet today to tell me it would be over 100.00

you are better off taking your puppy to a vet, they can make sure he is healthy and tell you which shots you need and which you can do without. it is more expensive, but better for your dog. if you are short on cash, you can go to the humane society.
a puppy will pee whenever and wherever he needs to. he is still to young to go the whole night without having to go. take him out first thing in the morning. eventually he will be able to hold it in all night.
Hi, yes, your puppy is way too young to be wormed and you don't need to, nor ought you, to worm a dog unless they actually have worms. Dogs don't like to pee in the crate, but they will if they have to. There may be several reason this happened. First: 9 weeks is a very young puppy! Almost too young to be away from his mom and some times accidents happen. The crate may be too large or the schedule he was used to may have been interrupted. I don't know which shot your pup needs; they go in order as well as by age; but the breeder is, it sounds like, just charging you for the price of the shot--or a little more. Some vets seem to have a base fee to just walk in the door and then add the charges for services and supplies on top of that --others don't. If you have a breeder willing to give your pup shots at cost --or thereabouts--I'd go with that! The breeder is probably very skilled and knowledgeable about the technique as well as the schedule. It is actually quite easy to give shots to animals (once you learn how to do it) and there are places probably locally where you can purchase the supplies wholesale. Have patience with your puppy! This is a very young animal and he will want to please you, just remember that dogs don't always understand what we want from them and it is our job to learn to communicate on their level. I'm not a vet but I would say NO NO NO do not get that breeder shot. First, from the several puppies I've had, they only need 3 or 4 shots the first 6 weeks, then a couple months after that I believe they get some more, kind of like a kid. But 7?? That sounds like way too much. Also, he is only 9 weeks old, he needs to go outside very very often, and it's normal for them to go in the crate. Do you keep him in all night? Make sure it is a pleasent place to go, and never put him in as a punishment. He will houstrain much faster if he has fewer "accidents" and that means taking him out more often, even at night. My pitbull got the hang of it at about 3 months. And she also goes to her crate when I say "kennel".
take the puppy to the vet for the answer to the shot question, unless the breeder is the vet. as for the crate training do you go to bed at the same time every night, or does it vary the puppy needs to wake up at the same time same with going to sleep. that way they learn how to hold it. also get a daily routine to and put him in the crate for at least 3 hours a day when your awakr there is a possibility that the crate is to big
I would say take your puppy to the vet for the shot. Im not a real pro myself with my first puppy who's 3 months. But its worth their health to take them to the vet. My bills for his check up and shots at all our area vets is around 55 dollars. It might be worth looking around or talking to family and friends for their vets and prices. As for the peeing in the crate. My dog caught on real quick to potty training.I fed him three meals a day at the same times. And after letting him eat for 20 min - 30 min (he tends to come and go instead of just sitting and eating) I'd take up his food til his next meal. Then around 8pm I would take both food and water away to help avoid getting up as much throughout the night. Still had to a few times throughout the night the first week or two. But it continuely got better. It usually took about 10 minutes after eating or drinking for him to go out. And he never once had a mess in his crate! Try keeping him on a schedule and keeping a close eye on him. Hopefully that helps!
