New Puppy I need help!~!?
I am trying to save money by taking my puppy back to my breeder for a 7 in 1 shot my puppy is 9 weeks old. Is the 7 in 1 shot the one he needs? Also does he need to be wormed or is he still too young? My breeder said it would cost me 15.00 compared to the 120.00 they want at the vet. On a side note I am crate training him and he pee's in his crate every night. I thought dogs wouldn't do that...Please help it's my first dog
Loves dogs..I just got off the phone with the vet..Bill would be 117.25 I live in Atlanta..You must live in some backwoods area because that is the 2nd vet today to tell me it would be over 100.00

you are better off taking your puppy to a vet, they can make sure he is healthy and tell you which shots you need and which you can do without. it is more expensive, but better for your dog. if you are short on cash, you can go to the humane society.
a puppy will pee whenever and wherever he needs to. he is still to young to go the whole night without having to go. take him out first thing in the morning. eventually he will be able to hold it in all night.

Hi, yes, your puppy is way too young to be wormed and you don't need to, nor ought you, to worm a dog unless they actually have worms.
Dogs don't like to pee in the crate, but they will if they have to. There may be several reason this happened. First: 9 weeks is a very young puppy! Almost too young to be away from his mom and some times accidents happen. The crate may be too large or the schedule he was used to may have been interrupted.
I don't know which shot your pup needs; they go in order as well as by age; but the breeder is, it sounds like, just charging you for the price of the shot--or a little more.
Some vets seem to have a base fee to just walk in the door and then add the charges for services and supplies on top of that --others don't.
If you have a breeder willing to give your pup shots at cost --or thereabouts--I'd go with that! The breeder is probably very skilled and knowledgeable about the technique as well as the schedule.
It is actually quite easy to give shots to animals (once you learn how to do it) and there are places probably locally where you can purchase the supplies wholesale.
Have patience with your puppy! This is a very young animal and he will want to please you, just remember that dogs don't always understand what we want from them and it is our job to learn to communicate on their level.
I highly recommend, if you are interested, the training methods of Harold Hansen of Heeling Free dog school. He has some inexpensive training CD's too.

I'm not a vet but I would say NO NO NO do not get that breeder shot. First, from the several puppies I've had, they only need 3 or 4 shots the first 6 weeks, then a couple months after that I believe they get some more, kind of like a kid. But 7?? That sounds like way too much. Also, he is only 9 weeks old, he needs to go outside very very often, and it's normal for them to go in the crate. Do you keep him in all night? Make sure it is a pleasent place to go, and never put him in as a punishment. He will houstrain much faster if he has fewer "accidents" and that means taking him out more often, even at night. My pitbull got the hang of it at about 3 months. And she also goes to her crate when I say "kennel".

take the puppy to the vet for the answer to the shot question, unless the breeder is the vet. as for the crate training do you go to bed at the same time every night, or does it vary the puppy needs to wake up at the same time same with going to sleep. that way they learn how to hold it. also get a daily routine to and put him in the crate for at least 3 hours a day when your awakr there is a possibility that the crate is to big

I would say take your puppy to the vet for the shot. Im not a real pro myself with my first puppy who's 3 months. But its worth their health to take them to the vet. My bills for his check up and shots at all our area vets is around 55 dollars. It might be worth looking around or talking to family and friends for their vets and prices.
As for the peeing in the crate. My dog caught on real quick to potty training.I fed him three meals a day at the same times. And after letting him eat for 20 min - 30 min (he tends to come and go instead of just sitting and eating) I'd take up his food til his next meal. Then around 8pm I would take both food and water away to help avoid getting up as much throughout the night. Still had to a few times throughout the night the first week or two. But it continuely got better. It usually took about 10 minutes after eating or drinking for him to go out. And he never once had a mess in his crate! Try keeping him on a schedule and keeping a close eye on him. Hopefully that helps!

Riiigggghhht......my pup went to the vet every month for her puppy shots and not once did it cost $120. That is ridiculous. Call the vet and ask how much they charge.

Congratulations to your new dog! To educate the dog to obey instructions you ought to be steady. Always use the equal word or phrase and constantly talk within the equal tone of voice. Speak on your traditional voice. Do no longer yell. Yelling frightens the dog and won't educate him/her a factor. You might consider that it does, considering simply as an illustration say the dog has performed anything that he/she is not meant to do and also you grow to be pissed off with Puppy and also you yell "No". The dog will transfer clear of you and you can also consider that you've got taught him/her anything and this may not occur once more. Well, you might be part proper. You have taught the dog anything by way of yelling at her/him and that's to be scared of you considering the dog may not recognize why you are yelling. Please talk in a traditional voice or a tender voice while you talk to the dog. In order to educate the dog the command "No" first determined what the dog can do and what the dog is not meant to do. Some of that is seen to you and your loved ones. Some might not be if in case you have kids equivalent to you do not wish the dog at the furnishings considering it (the furnishings) gets soiled and it'll get puppy hair. After you identify along with your loved ones what's O.K. for the dog to do and what isn't O.K., then every person will have to use the equal phrase or phrases to educate the dog. Puppys be taught by way of repetition. Just preserve at it and lovely quickly you'll have a satisfactory good behaved dog. Also, please don't hit the dog--inspite of a rolled up newspaper. People say that in case you do that the dog or the puppy is not going to accomplice it with you however this isn't real. The dog can see who's retaining that newspaper. If you wish to field the dog you will have to no longer hit or yell. I had a dog that I crate expert and whilst she might no longer obey me after commonly, then I might placed her in her crate for what's referred to as a "day out." I might no longer placed her within the crate after which placed her in a room by way of herself--she might have felt deserted. Instead I placed the crate within the room with me and I sat and talked to her till she calmed down after which I instantly allow her out. You might do this. As to instructing the dog to not chew, and to not bark-- puppys bark--that is traditional however to educate her to quit barking, simply talk on your traditional voice and inform her "No" or "Be particularly" or "Hush" or anything like that. As a long way as trainer her to not chew, first be definite that the individual isn't teasing the puppy. Biting is without doubt one of the methods that puppies and puppys have of protecting themselves. If the individual had no longer teased the dog, simply talk on your traditional voice to the dog and inform him/her "No" or "The postman is our buddy" or anything alongside those traces. This will take awhile, however puppies are sensible. Keep at it as I mentioned prior and lovely quickly you'll have a good-mannered dog. I virtually neglected the final aspect of your query. Since the dog is white a few names maybe Snowball Frosty (male) Also you will have to make a record of names that you simply like and names that go well with the dog. Take a couple of days and watch the dog and you'll observe the dog's persona and you can also wish to make a reputation from a attribute that he/she has. For example, I had a combined breed terrier. The identify she had whilst I first obtained her was once entirely irrelevant. I made a record of names that I appreciated and I watched the dog and I spotted that she walked like a girl and held her head identical to a girl and so my new dog grew to become Lady.
