Are you an artist?
Do you have a day job or does your art allow you to make a decent living so that you don't have to starve?

I am a freelance graphic designer. There are some years that I can barely clear $30 thousand. Other years approach $100 K. But it is a RARE year that I don't have to go out and find a paying job, somewhere, to pay bills. I have been a driver trainer, electronic technician, test engineer, taxi driver, school bus driver and a multitude of other things.
No, I don't "starve." But sometimes, I have to work my butt off to make ends meet.

In a way, I am. I painted, draw and created many things. I do have a day job to earn me a living, but I've not done any art for a while. It's sometimes difficult to do art and work in a day job at the same time.

I work 50% of my time at a regular day job to cover expenses.
You have to work real hard if you want your art get you enugh money with no day job.
I´have only been working as an artist for three years so I hope the moneyflow will get better over time!

I have a regular job and paint on the side. I've only started taking on commissions two years ago after having taken about three years to teach myself to paint with oils. At the moment i'm really happy with how far i have gotten and how soon i was able to get my first commission once i decided to try painting for money. As an emerging artist i'm having alot of fun with only one thing on my mind, to keep learning and be the best at what i do. My work can be checked out at hellosanantonio.com under artist name GUERRO1.

I work full time as an Art Director and then I have my own design business and I do illustration as part of it or when I feel like it.
