British artists vs. American artists?

Out of my top ten favorite bands, seven are British, the remaining three are American, but out of, say, my top fifty, more of them are American. So... British artists or American artists?

BQ: Favorite American band?

BQ2: Favorite British band?

BQ3: Favorite Canadian band?

BQ4: Favorite band from anywhere other than the already asked?

BQ5: Favorite folk artist?

BQ6: Favorite band with a number in the name?

BQ7: Southern rock?

If you don't venture much outside the Western popular canon, then you're likely to say British, and indeed they had a great scene going there in the late 60's/early 70's with the diversification of pop/rock music.

I'd go with American though, mainly because of jazz. It also has the blues, soul/r&b/funk, etc.

BQ: Miles Davis (Kind of Blue lineup)

    BQ2: King Crimson

    BQ3: Harmonium

    BQ4: Beethoven, Germany

BQ5: Fairport Convention, not counting prog-folk like Jethro Tull and Strawbs

    BQ6: 10cc

    BQ7: The Allman Brothers Band

    1. The Doors

    2. Led Zeppelin

    3. Rush

    4. AC/DC

    5. Simon & Garfunkel

    6. Third Eye Blind (close to a number)

    7. .38 Special

And I'd choose British even though there are still some very key bands that were American.

I don't really think British bands are more talented than American bands, but most of my favorites are British. so yeah. British bands.

Either Talking Heads or The Velvet Underground.

    Right now it's The Smiths.

    Ummm..Metric

    Sigur Ros

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young are pretty cool.

    Nine Inch Nails, I guess.
