Help I bred a litter of cockapoos and now most of the adopters have flaked out?
I bred cockapoo with my ***** (the spanieil) and a friend's poodle, I had homes lined up for the pups (there turned out to be 4), all but 1 of them have flaked out or made up stupid excuses so I still have 3 pups and I can't take care of them (not enough money), I dont have enough to take them to a vet or anything. Should I take them to the pound? I feel bad now because they are my doggys puppys but I cant keep them. :-(

That's the best reason to not crossbreed and count on people to hold up to their word. An expensive lesson that now the dogs pay for. Suck up, take your losses and give them a chance at homes. Find them homes....do not dump them at the pound. You were 'responsible' enough to breed them be responsible enough to find them homes. It's not about money - it's about doing right by those puppies.
Let me guess.... Your friend or even you thought that your two dogs would "make such cuuuuuute puppies" and a couple of other friends helped along and said, "Oh yeah they would be soooo cute! I'd take one!" And you thought it would be a wonderful idea to make some money? The wonderful idea not only backfired on you, but it turned around and bit you in the butt twice. Unless you take the puppies to a pound that will euthanize them within days, most shelters require a surrender fee. Ours here is $50 I think (I don't know for sure because I adopt the dogs from there, not dump them off). Your looking at a pretty hefty sum of money for surrender fees. In my opinion, I think you should suck up the money, get the pups vetted and then sell them to good homes for the amount you paid to get them vetted. I honestly don't know what you were thinking (other than the amount of money you could get from them) when you decided to breed your dog. You really got off lucky. If you can't afford to have three pups vetted, what would you have done if your Spaniel had a difficult delivery and you had to pay a few thousand dollars for a C-section? You got off lucky, the pups didn't.
SAD. Try and find a no-kill shelter in your area that will take these pups in because many of the independent ones have volunteers that foster pups. Then check with the SPCA in your area about low cost spaying so your dog won't have to go through this again. I'm thinking, maybe you can find a way to hang on to them until you find them good homes because "flaking out" is always a possibility. It's why breeders often have non-refundable deposits. Think of ways to make some money to keep them. Maybe walking other peoples dogs, or mowing lawns, or cleaning houses, or tutoring if you are good in a certain subject. Please get your Spaniel spayed!!
put a ad up at a vet for free puppies or what ever you want for them if you do it at the vets the vet will know who ever comes in and that if they will get a good home or not..and you could get the names of who ever wants one and maybe if the vet will talk to you, ou can ask him about the person and if they are good people and know if it's a good home the pup will be goning to or not..
I have seen ads in the newspapers before saying bring in your puppies and we will spay your dog for free that is if you want her to be fixed it was at the Humane Society if you want to have her fixed but don't have not enough money for it you could do something like that they will get homes for the pups and fix the mom for free but if you don't want her fixed you can do the ad at the vet..
I hope you find homes for all of your pups cockapoos are cute little dogs my friend had one..
This is typical. This is why most good breeders will not breed a litter until they have deposits from people wanting their puppies. Put an ad in the paper, on bulletin boards, tell your friends and neighbors that they are available. If you must take them to the pound or to rescue make sure that you include a large donation for their care. I hope that you learned that breeding dogs isn't all that it's craked up to be plus it's quite expensive when your poor. Please get your female spayed.
