It's a matter of personal preference. I grew up in a family of 10 and never saw anyone going to the bathroom. I've been married 20 years - we don't do it in front of one another....my sister do in front of their husbands....Personally, I think life's better when some things are kept private.

I cant say I have ever had a relationship with a woman that has worried about closing the door when they pee when they are only around me. I also have never closed the door because my gf or wife was around. Seeing a girl pee certaintly doesnt bother me. I always thought if your intimate enough with your partner to have sex, than whats the big deal? Sex is a LOT more explicit than that. Now poo is another story, that's a private act and it smells bad. If I didnt have to, I wouldnt be around when even I take a poop, lol. But peeing, I would never ask any girl to close the door when she goes, nor would it bother me to stand next to her or have a conversation (which I've certaintly done). This seems like something for people who are overly conservative or have a hangup. My hunch is also that they probably have hangups when it comes to intimate acts and what they are willing to do or let be done to them during sex? Just my theory!

My wife is the same, and we've held entire conversations before while she goes, pees, flushes and the conversation is still going on.
Now going number 2 is a different story. It's smells a little differnt than pee, plus, when a chick pees, it's not like you see it, you just hear it. Pooping, you can hear and smell The sounds and smell of number 2 usually arn't as pleasant as something that can be mistaken for a trickling faucet.
It's a thing.
