Is banning sharp objects really a rational solution to preventing slashing sprees?

Maybe we should figure out a way to identify attackers, or fix society... nah lets just ban sharp objects, and when they find another way to kill people we will just ban that too. I am sure banning cars isn't too far away. What do you think?

I think sharp objects would be difficult to ban because we use them for so many things other than violence, like cooking. Gun control, on the other hand, has been proven effective. Countries like Germany and Japan have a tiny rate of violent crimes, and very strict gun control laws. I can say that as a woman, I don't feel comfortable walking alone on the streets at night in certain neighborhoods. It would be nice not to have to worry.

No, of course not.

But politicians often feel pressure from the public to "do something" - and in a case like this, what can they really do?

True, the blame rests with society as it is and the world today's kids are growing up in... but the general public doesn't want to hear that. They want to hear, "It's okay. We'll fix it."

Which we both know is stupid, of course... but the sad fact is that a lot of the general population is actually pretty stupid.

I think if someone goes crazy they will find away to kill. kill people with there car, a gun, their hands, throw people of off a bridge etc...

You are right we need to fix society, I truly believe the number one problem in America is the lack of parenting, bad, drunk, loser parents. That are so caught up in their own liefs that they don't have the time to raise their kids.

Bans only work if the perp follows them.
