Thai Postal Service?

In general how is the Thailand Postal service. I like the send a lot of postcards to friends/family when I visit a country. I'd rather use the post office and affix all the cool stamps then send via e.g. FexEd (which can be expensive).

Via Air Mail, how long does it take for a post card to go to say Canada and can it get there safely?.

The postal service is one of the most reliable things in Thailand. You won't have any problems.

Your postcard will be delivered safely within 4-9 days.

The time it takes to arrive is more dependent on how quickly the Canadian system processes international mail. All the Thai post office is responsible for is to get it to Canada.

I send post cards back to the U.S. from Thailand pretty often. Usually it gets where it is supposed to go in around 9 to 15 days.

I would go to the post office directly to buy the stamps. Some hotels and even some places like small pharmacies and shops that sell post cards may have stamps too, perhaps a baht or 2 higher priced.

Up to you!

If you send your postcard from the hotel you are staying at in Thailand, it will get to Canada. Postage will cost you one or two US dollars.

Some hotels use stamps and others will frank the mail, so check with Concierge.

Airmail will have your postcard in Canada within a week of it being posted...

Have fun in Thailand.

I actually sent some postcards from Laos to Thailand and it took about 7 days. I sent some from Thailand to the US it took about10 days. And I sent some from Bangkok to Northern Thailand and it took about 3 days.

I sent a camera from the US to northern Thailand and it took about 3 month. Go figure. I would say its pretty reliable.
