I am getting ready to buy a laptop - which one is best?
I used to be a Gateway fan but the last one only lasted a year and a half. The staff there was not helpful and basically I got stiffed. You may need to know what I use it for. I am a full-time freelance writer so I am on it all the time and I need a big screen, at least 17". It needs to be really fast.
I also will prob get the 3 year warranty this time, is it worth it? I was looking at a Dell refurb based on someone's recommendation to save money. Money is an issue, I'd like to stay well under $800 or much less if I can get something really nice.
under /800 u can get a brand new laptop. rite now laptop kind of being low price. i like hp. i just bought my hp with 17 inc for 750$ brand new. it's fast, and i don't have any problem with it. i dont know if the warranty is worth it. i bought a laptop like 5 years ago with warranty, and when i got some problem i took it back to them and all they said that they couldn't do anything because problem weren't including in the warranty. the jack for my headphone was lose and i also i whenever typed or move my laptop, the sound was on and off. after reading carefully the warranty, it's almost as they say, we will fix only it if u didn't use it. for my case i was disappointed with warranty. and if u think about it, warranty will cost u about 300$, almost half price of ur computer. if i were u i will save those 300 and buy a new computer in 2 years. mainly that now computer become obsolete very quick. in 2 years, you will think that ur laptop is too slow, so you will want to buy a new one.
If u want ur comp to be fast, buy something with dual core, or they even do triple core now, with 4 gb of ram. when buying it, ask the seller about what kind of hardrive comes with the laptop. some hardrive allows u to go faster. i dont remember which one is it, the one that run in 5600 rpm, or 7200.
