He wants to back out of this Friday's Presidential debate. And his running mate won't face the press other than for photo ops!
Also, if McCain does chicken out of the debates, should the next candidate in line (per the polls--perhaps Bob Barr?) be invited to debate Obama on Friday?

Clearly he is scared to death, and I have to tell you, I read all these answers, and I got such a chuckle out of reading the answers from those brave, foolish Republicans.
They put on this big BRAVE FACE, saying that McCain is chickening out of the debate out of the goodness of his political heart in order to go and SAVE THE COUNTRY IN WASHINGTON, since they obviously CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT HIM FOR ONE DAY!

On a more serious note though, when the time comes for a debate, it's Obama who should be scared. McCain will wipe the floor with him.
And to the person who mentioned John McCain and deregulation, John McCain warned Congress 2 years ago (A Democrat Congress, mind you), that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would end up hurting the economy and the average American. The Democrats in Congress mocked him. Not to mention the fact that the main beneficiaries of the those companies were... drum roll please... Democrats! In particular Barack Obama.

Sure you are right McCain has never chicken out of anything exceptis debate. Theres a first time for everything. He knows he has'nt got a prayer to beat Barack in this debate. McCain knows he has no real resolutions to the issues americans are dealing with Friday is going to be Doomsday for McCain and he knows it... and by the way the only reason that Obama did not debate McCain earlier is because he had a campaign to run and the debates are schedule before hand.
