Why is John McCain afraid to debate Barack Obama?

Clearly he is scared to death, and I have to tell you, I read all these answers, and I got such a chuckle out of reading the answers from those brave, foolish Republicans.

They put on this big BRAVE FACE, saying that McCain is chickening out of the debate out of the goodness of his political heart in order to go and SAVE THE COUNTRY IN WASHINGTON, since they obviously CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT HIM FOR ONE DAY!

what a guy. He voted for deregulation for decades, and now we are in this economic mess, and now....NOW... NOW he wants to go and save us.

You can read the answers from these Republicans here and even THEY have to feel the fear. It is so thick, it is like political butter.

On a more serious note though, when the time comes for a debate, it's Obama who should be scared. McCain will wipe the floor with him.

And to the person who mentioned John McCain and deregulation, John McCain warned Congress 2 years ago (A Democrat Congress, mind you), that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would end up hurting the economy and the average American. The Democrats in Congress mocked him. Not to mention the fact that the main beneficiaries of the those companies were... drum roll please... Democrats! In particular Barack Obama.

Sure you are right McCain has never chicken out of anything exceptis debate. Theres a first time for everything. He knows he has'nt got a prayer to beat Barack in this debate. McCain needs to step aside and let a real man fix this country. The country needs a hero so lets get rid of all those zerosssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

McCain knows he has no real resolutions to the issues americans are dealing with Friday is going to be Doomsday for McCain and he knows it... and by the way the only reason that Obama did not debate McCain earlier is because he had a campaign to run and the debates are schedule before hand.

I think McCain must have realized that Obama was about to draw and quarter him over his half truths, false statements, and poor judgement on several fronts.

I don't get the answers really. If McCain was so eager to put country first why the hell did he not bother to show up to vote for almost three years?

I saw the debate. mcCain didn't look scared at all.

McCain originally wanted town hall style debates. Obama said no. This is just McCain getting out of the format he doesn't like, similar to Obama getting out of the challenge McCain set out for him.

Why indeed, he has been "crying" to have "town hall meetings for weeks" and now finally we get to hear some serious questions and answers from both candidates in one of the worst times in our history and he is bailing out.

Palin has been purposely kept hidden from the media. We all know she can deliver a prepared speech and "photgraphs" well, but we need to know more important things about her. Why are they hiding her?
