Why do people do drugs?

There is no single reason why anyone does drugs. Many people especially young people do drugs (including alcohol) to cover the hurt and abuse they endure daily, not everyone has the perfect life. Many do drugs to boost their self esteem, or mask the depression in their lives. These are but a few reasons.

There are many who do drugs as a sort of recreational past time. This is much the same as playing 'Russian roulette". Not all get the empty chamber.

Drugs are easy to get. You don't have to go to far to find people willing to profit on someone else's misery or pain.

If you suspect someone of abusing drugs talk to them, don't judge and encourage them to find help....Show more

Well, because a lot of them aren't that bad, a lot of people don't know how bad the really bad ones are and most importantly, they're really fun. People who get addicted to cocaine and heroin and so forth often simply aren't really capable of understanding the consequences of their actions. They know the affect drugs have, part of it starts off as curiosity. It goes downhill from there. Think of the song comfertably numb for exaple, "I can ease your pain, get you on your feet again" Meaning there are people who use it to escape or numb the things that hurt them the most.
