Dog sitting and pet got vicious?

I have been dog sitting for some people and the dog got out on me. I tried to get her back in the house or on a leash I had no luck. A man was jogging in the neighborhood an stopped to help,he said he knew the dog. She became very vicious with him and I told him to go on so she would calm down. This happened twice,I was finally able to get her in. I just told the owners and they were like oh well she didn't bit you or him so no big deal. I told them I was upset by her actions and they just laughed. What should I do this animal gets out on them also and there are children in the neighborhood.

Um this dog gets out on the owners all the time and the neighbors tell me they just let her run the neighborhood til she wants to come back. So no I'm not the issue here it's the owners not training their animal. This is the only animal that has ever gotten out on me.

Well first of all you need to sit these owners down and tell them you are concerned. If the dog is getting vicious there are some behaviour problems that need to be addressed. Finally, If you are uncomfortable quit pet sitting for them. Also, if you feel like the pet is a real danger to the community call animal services and have them talk to the owners.

Well. One excellent thing you did do was confront the owners about the dog. Because they didn't take it serious then I think you should call up a.s.p.c.a. And make a complain about the dog. You also said that there is kids that live I the neighorhood right? It sound like to me is that you are very concern of the safety on the children. I think you know what to do.

There isn't much you can do. Refuse to dog sit for them anymore.

I would make a record of the incident though. Write down the date, time, the name of the guy, and what happened. That way if the dog does bite, you can prove it isn't new so they can't slip out of it as easily.

you should report that to animal control..but knowing the fact that dog got out during your watch you could be liable if she would have bit someone. Be really careful about that.
