Would you buy your 1 year old or 3 year old son a Cabbage Patch Kid?

I was telling my husband that I miss not being bale to buy dolls since we do not have daughters and I suggested a Cabbage Patch Kid ( a boy one) and he seemed okay with the idea. Would you give this as a Christmas present to your son? My 3 year old is fascinated with the Babay Alive that pees in the potty and has asked for one on more than one occasion. I just think my husband would be more comfortable of he got a boy doll that he could play with.

I think you are missing the point...the doll would be for them not for me. My 3 year old is asking for a Baby Alive for God's sake! If I wanted a damn doll I would buy one.

Um yes, I did indeed buy my 3 yr old son a CPK for this Xmas. I was a bit nervous about it bc people can be so stupid about it but I know this is something my son would like to have, has asked for it and I'm happy to pick it out for him.

Studies show that boys who are allowed to show their nurturering side become better dads and make for better husbands..

My boy is also getting Deigo Rescue Dinosaur Mountain.

I've had my son walk down the street with a stroller and doll and he'll get ''awws''' from all the ladies. If people are thinking that boys having a doll makes them gay, really don't understand life cycle. I believe my son sees me as a provider, caregiver for him and would like to mimic that with his own doll, I see no problem with it.

I am exactly the same way, I love holidays and go a little extreme at times.. I have an 8 yr old and a 3 year old... This year there getting a joint gift and thats a wooden swing set for the yard.. and then Im going to do in there baskets some dvds, coloring books, crayons, tub toys, bubbles I always give them some chocolate, but not much i like putting the same things like gummies and crackers... I just get so excited on holidays and cant help going overboard, but i just love seeing there faces light up. WOW NORC you have to be kidding me, we are getting bashed and thumbs down for buying our children stuff. Excuse me but I do happen to love my children, and dont try to buy them love. And also I have always given my children alot, and my 8 year old is one of the most polite children you will ever meet. So dont come in here acting all mad because you chose to give your children nothing!

Of course I would. Boys should have dolls too. It helps them think of themselves as future nurturers and parents. Girls babysit and play with dolls and therefore know what to do when they get pregnant. Boys don't. Boys shouldn't be scared of fatherhood, they should be as much involved in it as girls. My twin sister just bought her baby boy a boy doll for Christmas. If I have a boy, I'll do it too. Especially since your son is actually asking for one, it would send the wrong message if you denied him the doll. I'm sure he will grow up to be a perfectly masculine person. Kids are not as confused by gender ambiguity as adults think they are. They get plenty of external messages about how to "be" their gender, even if they don't get those messages at home, which most do. Don't worry!

Yes.
My boys have a few Dolls. They often play with them. I even bought them a little crib and they have a *Dolls Pram* to push them around on the farm.

I have coped a lot of criticism from doing this. But there is nothing wrong with my Boys. They actually sneak into my room to play with my Dolls house.

When our Son's play with their Dolls, they don't actually refer to them as *he* or *she*. They have names, which change weekly. They don't completely have a *sense* of gender yet.

Absolutely. I have three boys and one girl. My oldest had a doll or two before my daughter was born. My younger two boys play with the dolls in our house plenty... and each have one doll that is 'theirs'. It teaches them to be good daddies.

My daughter plays with trucks and cars as well. Nobody worries about her. These boys are just as rough and tumble as they can be... but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy learning how to take care of children as well. My 'toughest' boy (3yo superhero freak) likes to put the babies in the clutches of the 'bad guys' so he can go save them. :)
