Are Canopies on Cribs Safe?

My daughter has chosen a nursery set that includes a canopy as an option. The canopy attaches to the ceiling and the netting flows down and around the crib. For a picture, visit:

My daughter is concerned that the baby, once she is standing up, might pull the canopy down. In other words, she is worried about the safety of the canopy.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of canopy?

i'v never used a canopy nor known anyone else to. i think it is unnecessary and will need to be taken down the moment the baby can sit up b/c it would pose as a hazard if baby got it wrapped around her neck somehow or entangled and had a panic attack (they do that!).
