a better parent

I'm a better Mom than what my Mom was to me. I don't beat my child and he comes first before anything I need. I take up for him where my Mom blamed me for everything. My Son knows everyday that I love him, where my Mom never showed us love. I am a way better Mom.

My Dad was great, if it wasn't for him Mom would of locked us away. He took me and my sister places and let us be kids..spoiled us..:)
May God bless him and take care of him.

It is hard to say

Through all their faults, my parents did a fantastic job. They raised 4 bright and successful children. We are all self reliant, have good jobs and treat others with respect and compassion.

I do the best I can with my two, however at the age of 7 I really cannot determine what type of men they will be. I can only hope that I have managed to instill in them the same values my parents did which I carry to this day.

Right now they are fantastic children. They are bright, kind and helpful. However I still have to make it through the teenage years.

This is a question to possibly answer in another 20 years, when I have two young men who call me mom. Then I will be able to tell you more accurate what type of people I raised and then maybe I will have a better answer.

However at the moment, I can hope for at least the same, and if possible exceed what my parents did.

My parents were really strict mainly because i grew up in Detroit. They also didn't want me dating black dudes...haha I'm engaged and pregnant by my high school sweetheart now, nothing my parents could do lol Anyway I won't be as strict because since my parents were so strict it just caused me to lie to them. I never talked to them like how I want my daughter to talk to me. My relationship with m parents, even now that I'm grown isn't very close because they were too worried about "parenting" me. That being said I will never try to act like my daughters friend but she will have a lot of freedoms that I didn't when I was a kid.

I like to think that I am a better parent but our lives are so different that it is impossible to compare fairly. My mother was 19 when she had me. I was 35 when I had my first. Would that be fair to say I'm better because I have more patience? No. Our situations are just quite opposite.

I would say that I am a better parent. My mom was an alcoholic and married an abusive man after she left my father. It's a long story so I just know I am a better parent.
