what is the purpose of those little armbands that football player wear?

I see these little armbands on the upper part of football players arms. What purpose do they serve???

These don't appear to be mourning armbands. They are thin maybe an inch or two wide. They are definetly not to soak up sweat. Maybe the racial or cancer thing. Can anyone verify that?

The captain of each team will wear them. Also, if something tragic happens like a player passing away or something like a mass murder outside of football they will wear one and so would the managers.

Usually the Captain wears such an armband. Armbands are also worn by all the players when someone significant in football passes away.

only the team captain wears the armband. if he gets subbed he gives it to with the second captain. they wear it so you know who the captain is

they serve various reasons

there are some which support `stand up speak up` which is against racism

blue one is for anti - bullying

green is for nspcc

yellow is for against cancer
