So Obama will make the world like us more?

Everyone who supported Obama's run to the White House claimed that he would win over the support of other countries. It looks as the EU and Canada may decide they are not big fans after finding out that the stimulus package contains a made in America clause for the projects that the stimulus package will pay for. Is he going to go against NAFTA and hold true to the plan or will he back down to maintain our relations with Europe and Canada?

I approve of the made in America clause but it does look as if the countries that object have legitimate complaints.

As I said I actually like the clause but it does go against NAFTA. I have never been fond of NAFTA because it has only served to hurt our workforce.

He will make the Arab countries like us more and our allies like us less. See...it's already started, in a little over a week!

He can't do any worse than the last president. The last guy promoted consumerism to no end. That made Americans seem as though we are bunch of shallow individuals. Our lack of oversight in the finance industry caused not only our economy to tank but other countries to tank. I can bet that there are a lot of Icelanders who are not liking Americans right now after their country went bankrupt after their government heavily invested in the United States banking system.

Now as far as NAFTA. I am hoping that he modifies it. Americans who are at work and who earn a decent wage will be able to contribute to the world's economy much better than if they are jobless. A jobless person cannot buy anything and will not be concerned about the needs of others when his own needs are not being met.

I don't think Canada and europe will grow to hate us.

What happened to patriotism and all the flag waving.
Should we spend our money on Chinese goods in protest?
Buy what you want. It's a free country.

The iron and steel has to be "produced" in the U.S. not purchased. We export steel and iron to Canada all the time. Can you see how easy it is to make that work? Think about.....right. Canada buys it and sells it back, No big deal.

Sure. The weaker we become, the more the world likes us. Not really a great thing.
