Do we currently live in an Idiocracy?

Apparently it didn't take 500 years from 2006.
I think the election of Obama was the beginning of it, and the end is not in sight.

Yep Carl Marks, Obama cannot speak his way out of a wet paper bag unless he has his teleprompter handy.

Your word "idiocracy" really describes Obama's Nation!

I would argue yes. It isn't because of Obama, though. I think it has to do with how comfortable we live now. People are allowed to be stupid because you don't really need to be smart to hold many jobs in this country, anyone can be easily trained to do the mind numbing work that passes as a career nowadays. Also people aren't really rewarded for being smart. I would argue that there really never was an enlightened or just smart society for hundreds of years. It is just now there is so much technology that is being developed by few people that they expect everyone to have knowledge and understanding of how it all operates. So the standard of intelligence is going up with each technological advance. Also media entertainment has a lot to do with our retardation of our society. What was once a moderately intelligent society is turning into an idiocracy by all of the fancy gadgets that we have readily available to use now: ipods, TVs, dvds, gps, video games, etc. We have the really smart people making this stuff for us, but they do have to dumb it down so the goat people can understand it, and everyone else is reaping the benefits.

Fast forward, now people are just really desperate as why everything is falling. Optimistic people say that, "oh this is just another burp in our system, it is meant to be that way." When really, we just haven't come up with a better way, because we aren't smart enough to do a change over or to utalize another system that doesn't involve working at meaningless jobs so you can continue buying useless crap, while many middle class people can't even afford a home anymore. The owners of this country should be ashamed that they continue to get richer while the majority (who can easily revolt and take power) stays willfully asleep, while clinging to their meaningless jobs and toys.

The problem with 'ignorance' is the fact that those that are, being ignorant, cannot realize it. And when these people believe themselves to be intelligent and well educated, they do not even entertain the possibility of their ignorance. It's sort of a perfect storm. So, Barry, Harry and Nancy are going along, fat, dumb and happy, secure in their mistaken perception of their own superiority while the nation spirals deeper into the social and financial abyss they have created with their ignorance.

So, in answer to your question, I would say no, not an idiocracy, but they are incredibly ignorant and too conceited to recognize this fact.

i hope not!! The world would get over populated, it would be horrible!! Dying is part of life cycle, we need to die to let others live... Personally i wouldnt want to live forever... I want to die and go to " the after life " I think this life is just the beginning of a whole big journey.. I want to die oneday.. i mean this life is great... but not great enough to be surrounded by millions of people everyday because we are so over populated, not being able to walk down the street without a gap between me and someone else.... screw that!!

We're headed there quickly at least.

Gladly I won't live long enough to see it completed, but Obama and the Liberals have certainly set us on the right path.
