Why do Cons laugh at the $13/paycheck tax savings under Obama?
Under Bush, there was a $300 stimulus check in 2008. Once.
If you get 26 paychecks a year and $13 tacked onto each check, that is approximately $340. It's basically the same thing.

@ Lttlehrse: Then shouldn't you be grateful that you're getting back even more of it? Oh, can't thank a liberal, I understand your idea of fairness. Enjoy the rodeo, Cletus.

Bush had it wrong and Obama has it wrong. In times of crisis you have to cut taxes AND cut spending. Neither president has done or is doing that. The current stimulus is 35% tax cuts, 65% spending. We are STILL overtaxed and spending too much. All of this equates to a mountain of debt and folks still struggling to make ends meet. All the while, the gov't gets bigger. We're in deep doo-doo with this guy. Overhauling Congress at the mid-term elections would be our best hope at this point.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that conservatives on this site were howling that Obama was going to raise taxes. Republicans have always used tax cuts as bait for votes. What they don't tell you is that a lot of people used those checks to pay down debt. The money went to banks, the very same bunch that did so much to put the economy into the mess it's in right now.
Same reason why Michelle Obama laughed at Bush's $600 tax rebate.
"Mrs. Obama said in Pontiac, Michigan, Wednesday that if her husband is elected he will offer more than a "quick fix" on the economy.
"You're getting $600 - what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month," she said. "The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings."
Your figures are wrong...It's an 800.00/ 400.00 for singles stimulus payment under Obama...divied up over paychecks so it helps to stimulate the economy and doesn't just sit in bank accounts. It is FAR more than Bush provided, not that it matters. People complaining about $13 are the same people who keep saying that all we want is 'handouts'. If they weren't all about 'handouts' they wouldn't be complaining about $13 per week being too little money.
