Help with cat de-worming meds?

We recently got a 5-month-old kitty, who apparently came with worms (can't say I'm surprised). If I remember correctly from my days at the humane society, they were roundworms that we saw in his stool. We got some meds and I gave him the dose, then he ate his food, but about an hour later he puked it all up, alot! My question is, do I need to re-dose him now? How long should I wait to see if it works, and is the only way to see if it worked by seeing a whole bunch of them in his poo? The ones we saw initially were pretty small so I'm not sure about everything...but I need to know soon before he (somehow) gives them to our dog. = )
Thanks for any help you can offer!

I would call a 24 hr emergency vet for help have and the meds on hand to read it back to the vet. You should never re-dose unless the vet OKs it. Different medications absorb differently. When a stray cat I had taken into my home had worms from fleas, she was given a shot. Maybe that could be option for your kitten if he can't keep the meds down. Take care

Did you use a wormer from the vet or one over the counter. Most over the counter meds don't work. Roundworms are long and tapeworms look like grains of rice. Your best bet is to take kitty for a vet check and let them determine if he needs further dosing. Vet meds will kill the eggs in the intestine as well as the worms. Bring a fresh stool sample if possible.

What do the worms look like? Does kitty have little rice looking things around her anus? If so this is a tape worm. You can buy over the counter pills to give your cat BUT keep in mind if they have a tape worm they probably also have fleas.

Read the instructions on the back of the de-wormer and see how often it is ok to give it to the cat or call a vet and ask their opinion.

If he's brought this back up after only an hour he'll need to have more again. This hasn't been in his system long enough to work.
