Why did Obama violate American custom and protocol by bowing to the Saudi King?

Was this act a violation of trust to the American people and Constitution?

Would Lincoln have bowed to a slave keeping oppressive king?

Americans do not bow to foreign monarchs because that act signified the monarch's power over his subjects.

Bowing is a sign of submission to a superior.

I couldn't believe a US President would have ever done such a thing. Maybe next he'll go all the way and kiss his @$$! If Israel wasn't nervous with Obama before I bet they are now!

I don't think there was any violation against Americans or the constitution. Bowing is a customary greeting in many countries including Japan and China. If bowing is a violation, why was there no uproar over the many presidents who have bowed to Asian dignitaries? It seems to me that people are just looking for reasons to be angry at Obama for. Personally, if it helps to bring the US into a better light with foriegn countries, Obama can bow until the cows come home.

Most U.S. President bow down to the Saudi King, not only Obama. Saudi Arabia can destroy our economy by trading in euros. Do the math.

His bowing made me ill. A handshake would have been sufficient but what can you expect from a man who gave DVDs, that didn't work, to UK Prime Minister. It's like the lights are on but no one is at home.

This is why America has so many problems today as it is not able
to change it's ways. Courtesy is defined as wrong doing, and yet
many Americans know nothing about other cultures, so that is why
they think it is wrong when something different takes place.
