How much is enough for a shower gift for a destination wedding?

Do you think $20 for a shower gift and $25 for wedding gift is too little for a wedding that's going to cost us over $1,000 to attend? Thanks,

I was thinking a small plate shaped like a Hawaiian shirt and one shaped like a leaf as a shower gift and a chip and dip set for a wedding gift. All three are a part of the pattern she registered for.

Generally speaking I spend $50/shower and $100/wedding (as a couple). BUT, if you're spending all that money to attend the wedding, $20 and $25 is absolutely fine. Of course I wouldn't just give them cash, I would buy them a gift with that money so no one knows exactly how much you spent.

Tradition calls for wedding gifts to be between $50-$100, however even miss manners will tell you destination weddings are different. Your gift is your presence at the wedding, and the bride and groom [should] have takent hat into consideration when they decided on doing an out-of-town wedding. Any gift you offer will pale in comparison to your love, support and being there for the big day. So any gift is appropriate :o)

I agree with magic 8. your attending the wedding should be enough gift. My hubby and I were both in his brothers wedding so it cost us a small fortune for his tux and my dress. So we couldn't afford a gift. We also made arrangments to get them a Hummer for their special ride, took the groom out for a massage and dropped them at the hotel afterwards. So our gift to them was our participation and help celebrating the joyess day. So whatever you can afford is just fine.!

In my opinion, in the case of a destination wedding, my gift is myself at the nuptuals.

I think that the dollar amount you stated is fine.
