Simple homemade low frequency signal generator?

0-1000HZ? 12V 5 amp output.Anyone have a simple plan? I'm a mechanical guy-not electronics. Thanks!

Search online for a function generator chip.

reference has one. The datasheet has schematics.

You can get a relatively accurate square wave at those frequencies by connecting a power darlington (pnp) transistor package across the supply and turning it on/off via a timer or microcontroller on the base pin.

maximum possibly, you're "pumping" too plenty out of your generator. (i think it somewhat is a generator powered with the help of a petroleum/diesel engine). because of the fact the burden will improve, the engine has a tendency to run slower (subsequently decrease frequency) if it has no longer a "stabiliation comments loop". In working slower, your load might desire to call for greater contemporary to boot, so it journeys... verify the completed power of your load. Multiply with the help of a million.3. it somewhat is the minimum power you prefer on your generator.
