The grass-like plant in the photo is a very young dracaena marginata.
A tropical foliage plant from east Asia.

It starts out like that but can grow into a tallish treelike houseplant after many years.
They are a durable, fairly easy to grow houseplant. It will tolerate anywhere from low light to bright light (where it grows best).

It does best in well in porous potting soil (I use cactus mix), and likes to go somewhat dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and discard any drainage. Make sure it's potted in a container with a drainage hole.

Keep it as a houseplant, it's not suitable for growing outdoors unless you're in a tropical climate.

Hope this helps!

Bahia grass is the main drought resistant turfgrass in Florida. as quickly as commonly used its roots penetrate very deeply into the soil and besides the actuality that it would desire to turn brown in the time of a extreme drought it vegetables back up very quickly whilst it gets water. it somewhat is a sprint tougher to mow whilst it gets wholesome and thick. it somewhat is began from seed.

Gardener is correct - Mondo grass. Usually used as a border along walk ways, flower beds, and/or landscaped areas. Can become invasive, takes full sun, well drained soil. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=mondo+grass&ygmasrchbtn=web+search&fr=ush-ans

They need some sun, and they are a little type of palm tree.as it gets older it will get taller.
EDIT: could be what we called Monkey Grass in NC, has a little stalk of purple flowers.
