2012 Republican Choice?
Republican friends. Who would you NOT like to see get your party's nomination in 2012? Who do you think would have the best chance to win a general election? Moderate, Conservative or Ultra Conservative.

McCain, Palin, Cheney, Newt, any of the Republican Cap and Trade voters... you see where I'm going. (I like what people think Newt is, not what he actually is. Like Reagan.)

In general, moderates win. When the country is in some dire situation, they amazingly look to the poles or radical ideas, instead of "unifying" centralists. But even these end up being slightly more conservative than the moderates.

That relies upon on an superb variety of subjects. Given how Republicans have reacted to Obama so a strategies, i've got have been given faith that they are going to alter into steadily greater advantageous extreme. (no rely if or now no longer they could stay a significant social amassing or will they turning out to be a minor relatively-conservative social amassing is yet yet another, appropriate rely). even with the reality that, plenty can exchange in a pair years. The candidate field is in actuality too huge to somewhat communicate approximately particular persons.

That depends on a lot of things. Given how Republicans have reacted to Obama so far, I suspect that they'll become increasingly extreme. (Whether they can stay a major party or will they becoming a minor ultra-conservative party is another, related matter). Still, a lot can change in a couple years.
The candidate field is too wide to really talk about specific individuals.

I think there will be a great temptation to run Newt Gingrich as VP or possibly (but very unlikely) President.
He's got the Conservative chops and has a good deal of political experience.
Unfortunately I think this will be an error. Mr. Gingrich has too many skeletons in his closet. And frankly I'm not sure those in the highest levels of the GOP have really welcomed him back yet. Plus he's going to have a tough time winning over the young and minority (soon to be majority) voters which will be necessary for *any* candidate to woo in order to win.

There are no viable candidates amongst the front runners. Palin's gone, Sanford & Ensign self-destructed, Jindal melted down at his first chance in the spotlight, Romney the Mormon will never get the nod, McCain is way too old, Guiliani is a joke, Gingrich has too many skeletons. Huckabee is a good man, but too vanilla to win. They need someone new, and they need them fast!
