Men answering questions in the Pregnancy Section?

Does anyone else get annoyed when men answer questions in here? I have seen so many answers from men who have NO idea what pregnancy is like and they're trying to tell US how it's supposed to go and what is normal and what is not. Totally annoying. I thumbs down mostly every man who answers in this section (unless they actually have a good answer... which is very rare).

Example:
The question was Can you bleed during pregnancy?
And a man answered and said "You still get a normal period during your whole pregnancy".

FIrst of all, how would a man know.. secondly, you don't get a normal period when you're pregnant.. if you do happen to bleed it's not a real period and it's not normal!

I'm not talking about male doctors, people... I'm talking about the men on here who OBVIOUSLY have no idea when they're talking about.

As long as they're giving legitimate answers, and not jokes, I don't see the problem. My husband learned a LOT during my pregnancy - he would be a wealth of knowledge on hyperemesis and placenta previa. Just because they're men doesn't mean they don't know anything.

And yet people assume that women know just as much who have never been pregnant - such as midwives or health visitors?
Granted, they can't describe the feelings of a kick, or the pain of contractions, but some men are knowledgable in pregnancy related issues. I never bled during pregnancy, but I do know a lot about it. Does that mean I can't answer because I haven't personally experienced it? Can I warn someone about the symptoms of pre-eclampsia when I never had it?
I think you're being more than a little unfair. If it's facts they're offering, then they can be just as accurate. It's feelings and opinions they're not so great on. just because that one man got it wrong doesn't mean it's because he's male - I'v heard plenty of women - nay - MOTHERS saying the exact same thing.

I agree with you for the most part. Guys really have no business in the pregnancy section. But sometimes a question calls for a mans input. Like Does my husband think I'm not attractive since I became pregnant? Most guys could answer that better than any woman could. I feel if they are going to be here they should be mature and have helpful information.

I mostly agree. But, those types of answers annoy me, no matter if it's from a man or woman. Plus, some guys actually do know a lot about pregnancy and babies..my husband being one of them. He's read everything I've read (he's even read my breastfeeding book..LOL) and I trust his advice over a lot of the advice I see here.

I think things just annoys us more when we're pregnant. Since it's my second pregnancy, I can answer questions about labor and delivery. And it sometimes annoys me when I see women who are pregnant with their first criticizing someone about their birth plan or acting like they know what *they're* talking about....LOL.

I've seen some quite good answers from men actually and been surprised at their knowledge in pregnancy, but obviously there are going to be morons that come in and talk rubbish, it's expected on a forum like this.
