Nikon D40x...dead? for good?

I have the d40x and it has been working perfectly since i bought it, however yesterday, without prior announcement it just stopped working (it didnt fall, or got under the sunlight or water or humidity, if anything only x rays from the scanner at the airport). So i was going to take a picture when the autofocus stopped working, and the shutter never released.
Now there is a message "Error, press shutter button again" but of course nothing happens. 
What can it be or how can I fix it? is it common or maybe its just the lifetime of the shutter? Thanks a lot!

Try to reset the camera. 

Set the camera to manual focus and check if that works. 

Use manual exposure mode and see then if it works.

Check the battery power (but I don't think that it's a problem here).

Switch off the camera, remove the lens and then mount it back again. Sometimes this seems to help.

If nothing seems to work, try to update the 'firmware'. read the instructions before you do it. 

You should contact the authorized service center if nothing works or if you want to be sure.

Have you checked the battery?  You'd be surprised. 

Make sure all the connections are connected...nothing popped just the tiniest bit open, all the nobs in the on positions, not, like, between clicks.  

You tried turning it off and on again?  

those xrays shouldn't do anything at all to a digital camera.  

How long have you owned it?  Have you used it tons since then?  

Give up and get a REAL camera...like the D70 or higher!  (I haven't had any trouble with mine!)
